A Statement from Chosen People Ministries on Israel’s October 2026 Election
On October 27, 2026, the people of Israel went to the polls in one of the most consequential elections in the nation’s history. As the final count continues, we invite Christians to pray, and to understand what happens next.
Israelis do not vote directly for a prime minister. They vote for a party, and the Knesset’s (Israel’s parliament) 120 seats are divided in proportion to each party’s share of the vote, provided it crosses a 3.25-percent threshold. No party has ever won a majority alone, so a government requires a coalition of at least 61 seats. Once results are certified, Israel’s president consults every party to find the leader most likely to succeed to form a government. This can take weeks, and if no coalition emerges, Israel may vote again.
This is democracy at work, in a nation surrounded by enemies and still facing the threat of renewed war with Iran. Israel is the only functional democracy in the Middle East and celebrates freedom for all its citizens—whether Jewish, Arab, or part of other minorities.
Chosen People Ministries does not take sides in Israel’s internal politics. Whoever leads the next government, our commitment is unchanged: we affirm Israel’s right to exist and to defend its citizens. We are grateful for the strong support Israel has received from the United States, and we urge Christians of every political persuasion to keep that support steady, no matter who governs in Jerusalem.
Most of all, we ask you to pray. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6) and for wisdom for Israel’s leaders. Pray for our Chosen People Ministries workers in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and across the Land, who continue proclaiming Yeshua during this sensitive season. With the apostle Paul, we say, “my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them [Israel] is for their salvation” (Romans 10:1).
Governments come and go. God’s faithfulness to Israel endures.
Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar; the Lord of hosts is His name: “If this fixed order departs from before Me,” declares the Lord, “Then the offspring of Israel also will cease from being a nation before Me forever” (Jeremiah 31:35–36).
We have created a prayer declaration that we invite you to sign as a commitment to pray for Israel. Sign it, and we will email you a copy to print and display as a daily reminder to pray.
