Daring Israeli Commando Operation in Syria Comes to Light
Israel is now revealing a daring Israel Defense Forces (IDF) commando operation deep inside Syria, which occurred on September 8. This happened before Israel launched its major campaign against Hezbollah and while Bashar al-Assad was still in power. The operation was one of the most daring and complex ever. It included 120 members of special forces who raided and destroyed an Iranian underground precision missile manufacturing plant. This facility seemed to be Iran’s flagship project to produce missiles to arm Hezbollah. The Assad regime was closely allied with Iran and allowed Iran to use its country to manufacture and deliver weapons to Hezbollah. After the demise of Assad regime, Iranian forces withdrew from Syria.
Since 2017, Israeli intelligence knew of the construction and the purpose of the site. The site was dug between 230 and 430 feet underground, along the side of a mountain, making it basically impossible to destroy by air. The IDF wanted to destroy the site years ago, but only with the current war did top officials begin to consider the operation as a serious possibility.
When the time came for the operation, the commandos left for the covert mission—along with two attack helicopters providing close air support, twenty-one fighter jets, five drones, and fourteen spy planes. In addition, thirty aircraft waited in Israel on standby in case something did not go as was planned. The helicopters flew to Syria, far off the coast of the Mediterranean. When crossing onto land, they were unusually low to evade Syrian radar and air defense systems.
The helicopters took eighteen minutes to fly undetected from the coast to the facility while Israeli fighter jets, drones, and navy missiles launched a wave of strikes to distract and trick Syrian military from the coming commandos. Every person who was part of this massive operation returned without injury, having accomplished their goals.
Praise God for His protection as Israel carried out this daring mission to stop Iran’s missile production in Syria.
Hamas Releases Sign of Life from Israeli Hostage
Hamas terrorists released a psychological warfare video, giving a sign of life from hostage Liri Albag, age nineteen. She was one of the IDF observation soldiers taken from the Nir Oz military base on October 7, 2023. In the video, she said she has been held for 450 days. The family did not allow the public release of the video, but Liri is quoted to say,
I’m only nineteen years old. I have my entire life in front of me, but now my entire life has been put on pause. We are starting a really dark year here. The world is starting to forget about us. No one cares about us. We’re living in a nightmare.
Her parents, who found the video heartbreaking, said,
Today’s video has torn our hearts to pieces. This is not the daughter and sister we know. She is not well—her severe psychological distress is evident. We watched our heroic Liri surviving and pleading for her life. She is just dozens of kilometers away from us and yet for 456 days, we have been unable to bring her home.
Liri’s mom also said to her, “we are fighting for you, we aren’t giving up on you, and you are coming home alive.”
Please pray for the quick release of Liri and all Israeli hostages who are still held by Hamas terrorists. Pray also for the return of the dead hostages so their families can have more closure and provide their loved ones a proper burial in Israel.
Mount Hermon Remains a Closed Military Zone
Mount Hermon, located in northern Israel, recently received between twelve and sixteen inches of snow. In normal years, ski enthusiasts would be flocking to spend the day skiing on the fresh snow, but the site is now a closed military zone because of the war. Part of northern Israel borders Syria. Israel was just hit with major storms that brought a lot of rain to most of the country as well as cold temperatures. With Israeli troops stationed on Hermon until the situation in Syria stabilizes, they have had to be outfitted with proper winter gear and supplies as temperatures are below freezing.
Please pray for the safety and health of the troops stationed along Israel’s north.
Our Jerusalem Staff Proclaim Jesus to Children during Hanukkah
A note from one of our staff in Jerusalem:
We couldn’t miss this opportunity to share one last story from a Hanukkah children’s camp we held at our Jerusalem Messianic Center. Our staff in Jerusalem welcomed twenty-five children from Haifa, Ashkelon, Ashdod, and Jerusalem for a week. Their unique connection is that they are all new immigrants to Israel, so they had time together to make new friendships and continue to acclimate to their new country. Many of them came from not-yet believing homes, so they also heard about Jesus and how much He loves them—some for the first time!
Because of the current security situation, the smaller gathering was easier to manage, and it was an incredible time together. Each day was a whirlwind! We kicked off our mornings and evenings with heartfelt worship and inspiring studies about Jesus as the Light of the World. We took a thrilling trip to the skating rink, baked and decorated cookies, and fried up Hanukkah donuts. Every moment was packed with laughter and creativity!
We had the kids plan theatrical performances inspired by biblical verses, showcasing their newfound understanding of Israel and Scripture’s stories! We witnessed two children—a brother and sister—experience a remarkable transformation in their hearts. Their openness to God is palpable, and we witnessed their enthusiasm for prayer and worship. It is simply awe-inspiring!
Join us in praying for the salvation of these kids and the continued work God is doing in their lives!
