Nova Festival Survivors Meet in Tel Aviv for Second Anniversary of October 7th
On October 5th, hundreds of those who survived the Nova Music Festival massacre on October 7th, 2023, gathered at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv with their families to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the October 7th attacks. The event was titled “Remembering and Embracing,” and included a “Tree of Hope” installation connected to a landline phone for families to call and talk about their lost loved ones, memorial candles, handwritten cards for lost loved ones, pictures on a large screen, and memorial installations of those killed in the massacre.
On October 7th, 2023, Hamas terrorists murdered 411 attendees and sexually assaulted many at the Nova Music Festival. Since then, 3,800 of the survivors and their family members (totaling around 15,000) formed a community called “Nova Tribe.” Tragically, one of the Nova survivors committed suicide a year following the October 7 attacks after being haunted by the experience of the massacre. Her mother, Yaffa Golan, attended the memorial event and said, “All the bodies in the state must wake up; there are many Nova survivors who still have not found relief for their souls.” Soli Laniado, CEO of the Nova association, said “Every bereaved family is a world in itself. There are thousands of family members of Nova survivors, in addition to the support for the families of Nova’s hostages and services for released captives and freed prisoners.” The Nova association has so far saved 100 Nova survivors from committing suicide, and Israel’s National Insurance Institute has granted disability status to about 2,600 of the survivors.
New Israeli Technology Maps Underground Spaces at Archeological Sites without Digging
A team of archeologists from Tel Aviv University (TAU) recently revealed new techniques to find hidden spaces beneath the ancient City of David in Jerusalem without breaking the ground. The findings were published in the Journal of Applied Physics and could aid archaeologists around the world in discovering and researching underground spaces before even lifting a shovel. The technology “x-rays” the earth by using a detection system that employs muons, which are elementary particles similar to heavy electrons.
This system was recently tested at the City of David where the portable detectors located known underground spaces and finding new ones. The City of David is a perfect ancient site to test because there are multiple layers and cavities to explore, from the Iron Age (1200–586 BCE) to the Roman and Islamic eras. Professor Oded Lipschits of TAU’s Department of Archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern Cultures said, “With this research, we set out to develop a simple, low-cost method to produce a 3D map of what lies beneath the bedrock—using artificial intelligence as well—so that archaeologists can arrive at a site already knowing the underground layout and decide where to dig accordingly.”
Praise God for this technology that can help Israeli archeologists discover more important sites of biblical Israel.
Current Ceasefire Proposal Discussed among Israel, Hamas, and the United States
Israel and Hamas continue to negotiate the current ceasefire proposal with President Trump’s backing. The current ceasefire proposal’s objectives are significant, especially since two years have passed since the invasion and massacre of Israel’s border communities. Within 72 hours of the ceasefire (in its original wording) taking effect, all hostages—dead and alive—will be returned to Israel. Only afterwards will Israel release 250 Palestinian prisoners who are serving life sentences, plus 1,700 Gazans who have been detained since October 7th, 2023. For every deceased Israeli hostage returned, Israel will release the remains of 15 Gazans.
Further points of the potential ceasefire agreement are the disarmament of Hamas, the organization of a peaceful civilian administration in the Gaza Strip, and the safe departure of members of Hamas who wish to leave Gaza to their receiving countries. The Israel Defense Force’s (IDF) battle lines will be frozen in the hopes of further staged withdrawal, but the cessation of military operations will ensure the safe return of the hostages. The ceasefire statement wants a “deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.”
After the hostages are released, Hamas members who promise to lay down their arms and physically hand them over will be given amnesty. There will be a temporary transitional government in Gaza that is not connected to any political party, who can run the day to day municipal and public work of redevelopment for the civilians in Gaza. Finally, a unique economic zone will be established to help rebuild the territory.
Please pray for an agreement to the ceasefire.
A Special Opportunity to Parents of Soldiers
As we survey all the love and support we have given to soldiers through our ministry—both believing and not-yet-believing—we realized there is a group of people who are hurting and need some care and prayer. Just recently, our team in Jerusalem planned a four-day retreat for parents of soldiers! They have been living in prolonged worry and anxiety as their sons and daughters serve all over Israel and in Gaza. Most of the children were actively deployed and serving in combat. Of the twenty-six couples who came, half were believers and half were not yet believers. The group met twice a day and heard from seasoned speakers—themselves officers in the IDF—who shared their wisdom, testimony, and how the Lord will sustain and help each parent. The attendees asked questions, got honest answers, and shared their own experiences. Singing and praying together created a special atmosphere—it filled their hearts with peace and hope. The time together offered a perfect opportunity to share faith and provide spiritual support. One woman approached the leadership team on the last day; she cried as she said she was able to rest, sleeping through the night for the first time in a year and a half.
We pray that each one who came felt the Lord’s love and comfort for them. Please pray that they each draw closer to Him! Please pray for the safety of their sons and daughters.
